<< Long time coming home >>

Hi kids, it's been a while, hasn't it? Whilst no big returns are planned, I did want to tell you all about my life now. It's funny really because there's over a year missing from here, whereas I did used to have an entry for every day.

Last time around I was just starting my job at the Council and I can honestly say that I enjoyed almost every day. I met some brilliant people, especially Ed who's now a very close friend. Maybe I see it with slightly rose-tinted glasses but my 15 months as an Information Assistant were absolutely the best. There's not a day that goes by where I don't wish I was back at my desk dissecting only the most ridiculous of Personnel rumours and generally mocking the stupid with my team of necessarily geeky, Excel-slaying data geniuses. Um, and Travis. It's just a pity the whole work thing rather got in the way.

These days, however, I am at University, which is what I always wanted to do. I live in Newcastle, at the other end of the country by the Scottish border; there's six of us in the flat, three girls, three guys and they're all alright, no big arguments, even if we do get the kitchen in a bit of a state. Salmonella: Imminent. I'm studying Politics and Economics joint honours, which is working out really well, even if I am very scared of the 50 page reading lists for each module. I get kicked out of the library when it closes more often than I might like. I haven't become a completely devoted student, don't fear, in fact I could still procrastinate for England; it's just that I really want this to work out so as to justify being here at all. I've learned one lesson though and I shan't be letting the work get in the way of the good conversation this year. Pfft.

I couldn't have stayed in my office, everybody else started moving on. Ed and Richard got new jobs and Travis went home to Canada; my lunchmate Phil has gone to study law. I'm not sure why you need to know, I was never able to tell you all who they were, although I might eventually in retrospect.

Dan and I broke up, which might be a surprise but I would guess not. It's amicable to a fault and he's an awesome friend to me now, getting on better than ever; he's with Petra from Hungary now. I, meanwhile, started seeing John, who you may remember was my best friend online, so there's hope for even the nerdiest of us. For a long while we saw each other every weekend and it's odd still being so far away. He's in London, studying Business with French at Greenwich.

I'm not too sure what the future holds, certainly not beyond Christmas, other than potentially being arrested for destroying the Fenwicks Christmas window display because it's really, really annoying. Gulliver's sodding Travels all day every day down the shopping street. I try not to worry too much, about anything really, these days. I'm still only 19 and life, right now, is pretty good fun. Although not as much fun as the life of the guy in the office opposite my window who appears to be dancing around waving a bottle of cider. I'm missing something, no doubt. On that note...
